The Panasonic Lumix ZS6
Panasonic, known for having some of the best point-and-shoot cameras out on the market today, does it again with its Lumix camera series. Among these is the Panasonic Lumix ZS6, a model that combines some of the best features of the Lumix DMC ZS5 and the Lumix DMC ZS7. The Lumix ZS6 has a variety of excellent features that any photographer will love. Just a bit on icing on the cake is the 720p HD Video capability, 12.1-megapixels, and most impressive of all – a whopping 25mm ultra wide-angle optical zoom lens that you wouldn’t have suspected it could have, what with its compact size. Other features included in the Lumix ZS6 are its Hi-speed AF, Power OIS, Intelligent Auto, and AF Tracking.
The heart of any decent camera is a good, solid lens. The Lumix ZS6’s 25mm ultra wide-angle lens is the fruit of Panasonic’s most recent research forays in advanced optical technology. The 12x optical zoom lens, like all other lenses of cameras in the Lumix series, consists of ten elements in eight groups and includes 2 ED and 2 aspherical surfaces. It’s quite a formidable piece of equipment in a camera of its size. The lens is fully capable of 25 to 300mm focal length range and basically has twice the shooting range of a standard 35mm lens.
The DMC-ZS6 is also graced with Panasonic’s Intelligent Resolution technology, which grants the camera with a zoom ratio that increases by 1.3x and simultaneously maintains image quality as you go. Putting it simply, its 12x optical lens is capable of extending into the 16x equivalent. Add to that the Lumix ZS6’s Extra Optical Zoom function and you can extend the lens’s power by up to 23.4x and get clearer focus in all of your images.
The Sonic Speed AF System, another of the Lumix ZS6’s nicer features, comes with a veritable number of re-engineered enhancements, such as optimized algorithms, parallel software processing, and an improved high-speed actuator. With these features combined, you’ll get much faster and more accurate AF performance from your camera, enabling you to take perfect shots of fast-moving subjects.
